Spring Events in San Carlos and the Mid-Peninsula You Can’t Miss in 2026

Spring Events in San Carlos and the Mid-Peninsula You Can’t Miss in 2026

Spring on the Mid-Peninsula means longer days, blooming gardens, and a packed calendar of things to do. If you're looking for spring events in San Carlos, Belmont, Redwood City, and the surrounding Bay Area, this season has a lot to offer.

As top San Carlos real estate agents, our team at Veritas Homes loves helping people discover what makes this part of the Peninsula such a special place to call home. And spring is one of the best times to experience it firsthand!

What Spring Events Are Happening in San Carlos, Belmont, and Redwood City This April?

April kicks off the spring events season on the Mid-Peninsula with a mix of outdoor adventures, family-friendly festivals, and one-of-a-kind local traditions.

10th Annual Airport Runway Run - April 12, Hiller Aviation Museum, San Carlos

One of the most unique races in the Bay Area is right here in San Carlos. The Hiller Aviation Museum's Airport Runway Run lets you run, walk, or stroll the full 2,600-foot runway at San Carlos Airport. Choose from a 2K, 5K, or 10K course that takes you through the beautiful Bair Island wetlands before finishing at the nose of the museum's 747 aircraft. All participants get free museum admission on race day. This event sells out every year, so register early.

Egg Adventure Hunt - April 4, Twin Pines Park, Belmont

Bring the kids out to Twin Pines Park for Belmont's annual spring egg hunt. This family favorite features egg hunting, activities, and a chance to enjoy one of Belmont's prettiest parks on a spring morning.

Belmont's Wedding Fair in the Park - April 12, Twin Pines Park, Belmont

Planning a wedding? This outdoor fair brings together local vendors, venues, and wedding professionals in the lovely setting of Twin Pines Park.

Flavors of the Peninsula - April 23 through May 3

This brand-new 10-day culinary event is one of the most ambitious restaurant week programs in California. Over 100 restaurants across San Mateo County are participating, with special prix fixe menus highlighting everything from farm-to-table dining to global cuisines. It's a fantastic way to explore the local food scene from bayside to coastside.

Weekly Farmers' Markets

Don't forget about the farmers' markets that run all spring and summer. The San Carlos Farmers' Market happens every Sunday on Laurel Street with fresh produce, specialty foods, flowers, and local artisans. The Redwood City Kiwanis Farmers' Market is the oldest and largest on the Peninsula, running Saturdays on Arguello Street starting in April.

And if you're willing to make the trip into the city, the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival takes over San Francisco's Japantown on April 11-12 and April 18-19. This free festival draws over 250,000 visitors and features cultural performances, traditional food, arts and crafts, and a grand parade on the final Sunday. It's one of the largest celebrations of Japanese culture on the West Coast.

What Are the Best Mid-Peninsula Events for Families in May?

May is peak spring event season on the Peninsula, and the highlight is one of San Carlos's most beloved traditions.

San Carlos Hometown Days - May 15-17, Burton Park, San Carlos

This is the big one. Hometown Days has been bringing the San Carlos community together since 1980, and it remains the city's signature weekend celebration. The festival takes over Burton Park with live entertainment on multiple stages, carnival rides, food trucks, a beer and wine garden, and activities for all ages. The Saturday morning parade down Laurel Street is a highlight, featuring floats, school bands, dance troupes, and local organizations. Sunday brings the beloved Pet Parade and a Rotary Fun Run with a pancake breakfast. The 2026 edition runs Friday through Sunday with extended evening hours.

Everything about Hometown Days reflects what makes San Carlos the "City of Good Living." It's the kind of community event that makes people fall in love with this town. If you're considering a move to the area, this weekend is the perfect time to explore San Carlos neighborhoods and see the community spirit for yourself.

10th Hungarian Heritage Festival - May 9, Twin Pines Park, Belmont

This annual celebration at Twin Pines Park brings Hungarian culture to the Mid-Peninsula with traditional food, music, dance performances, and family activities. It's a unique and fun afternoon in one of Belmont's most charming parks.

Dance Ensemble from Taiwan - Mother's Day Celebration - May 10, Fox Theatre, Redwood City

Celebrate Mother's Day with a special cultural performance at the historic Fox Theatre in downtown Redwood City.

Carnaval San Francisco - May 23-24, Mission District, San Francisco

Worth the drive up the 101. Carnaval San Francisco is the largest multicultural celebration on the West Coast, with over 500,000 attendees across two days in the Mission District. The free festival features five stages of live music, 400+ vendors, international food, and the spectacular Grand Parade on Sunday morning with 60+ contingents of dancers, musicians, and elaborately decorated floats representing Latin American, Caribbean, and African cultures.

The best Mid-Peninsula Realtor agents know that the lifestyle here goes well beyond the homes themselves. Easy access to San Francisco, world-class dining, and a full calendar of community events are a big part of what makes this area so desirable for families and professionals alike.
